Padmanabhapuram Palace

This palace is one of the master pieces of Kerala architecture. It is located in the town of Thuckalay in Kanyakumari District, Tamilnadu. This incredible wooden palace attracts million per year. This grand palace sprawls across four acre land and is bordered by Velli hills. The view from the Palace top floor is really great.
History: This palace was built by Ravipillai Ravivarma Kulasekhara Perumal during 1601 A.D, this palace was the dwelling place to many rulers of Nagapattinam. Though this monument is in Tamilnadu state, Kerala government takes this palace under their archeology department.
Architecture:
Architecture of this palace is highly enchanting and unparalleled. The way this palace is built is one of the hardest nuts to crack, and till now no one can build a place just like this. Though most of the building in made of wood, it still now hadn’t worn out. The whole place is adorned with 70’s murals, intricate crafts in the ceilings, mica windows, lots of tunnels and secret annexes, and a vast dining hall that can hold even 1000 people, medicinal room full made of medicinal herbs and woods, bed rooms with mahogany ceiling and teak wood bed and sparkling floor made from the combination of many things.

Train:Nagercoil railway station is the nearby railway station to this palace.
