Ranipet
Information
In 1771, the Nawab of the Carnatic Sadaul Khan built a city in memory of the young widow of the brave Desing Raja. The Nawab, respecting De Singh's courage and his wife's devotion, built a village near Arcot on the north bank of the Paalar. He named it Ranipet in honor of the young widow who, as a result of tradition, tragically committed suicide.
