Rock Fort Temple - Monuments - Tamilnadu

Situated high in the midst of the city of Tiruchirapalli in Tamil Nadu, the Rockfort temple monument houses a Hindu temple dedicated to the worship of the Hindu Deity, Lord Ganesha. The city of Tiruchirapalli obtained its name from this famous monument, ‘Tiru-ssila-palli’ meaning ‘Holy-rock-town’. This monument is unique in a sense since it houses a Ganesh temple as opposed to the Hindu fact that all hillocks are considered only for the worship of Lord Karthikeya.
